Scott Householder founded Householder Group in 1997 with a vision of building an independent, client focused Registered Investment Advisory firm which would allow advisors to truly work on behalf of the clients, always putting the clients’ needs first.
Since its beginning, Householder Group has enjoyed amazing success. In 1998 Householder Group was awarded the Field Development award for the fastest growing Registered Investment Advisory firm in 1997*. In 1999, Scott led Householder Group through the acquisition of a large, longstanding advisory firm in Los Angeles with a history dating back to 1987. In 2001 Householder Group continued its expansion into Orange County, successfully opening four satellite offices within 18 months. Today, the firm operates over 40 offices across the continental United States. Householder Group is known for having a strong “brain trusts”. Householder Group is sought out by the major financial news networks for financial opinions and advice, is regularly quoted on CNBC, Squawk Box, the Wall Street Journal, and has economists that are syndicated in newspapers nationally.
Scott has spent his life in leadership roles. Growing up in Oklahoma City, he served as class president in high school, where he graduated with honors. He attended Oklahoma State University, graduating with honors and earning a Bachelor of Sciences in Business Administration with a minor in Economics. He was a Top Ten Senior and went on to earn a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance & Estate Planning, while serving as president of the MBA Association.
Scott began his business career in 1981 with Exxon, running 13 company-owned retail outlets with 175 employees, and built his zone to first in the nation. Scott married his wife, Debby in 1986, and joined American Express Financial Advisors in 1987. Within four years he was recognized as the Top First Year Advisor in the nation, promoted to Training Manager, named a Master Advisor, and subsequently was promoted to District Manager by American Express. He built his District to the number one position in the nation and then was promoted to Division Vice President in Phoenix, Arizona in 1991. True to his history of working with the motto that clients come first, he led the Phoenix division from 172nd out of 175 divisions nationwide, to first in the nation. He left American Express Financial Advisors in 1996 to form Householder Group Estate & Retirement Specialists.
Scott believes in serving his community as well. He has enjoyed coaching 26 Little League, soccer and basketball teams, teaching Sunday school, serving on the Board of Directors of his church and as president of his community association.
In his spare time Scott enjoys hiking, cycling, skiing, and mountain biking. He has hiked twelve 14,000 foot peaks and completed several Grand Canyon rim to rims. Scott and Debby have lived in the same neighborhood in Paradise Valley, Arizona since 1991. They have three children, Megan, Davis and Caroline.
